The Scappoose School District has created a focus on developing policy and procedures to support Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. This work is guided by staff, administrators, community stakeholders AND students. The state of Oregon has Ethnic Studies/Equity initiatives that are developing and influencing the work we are engaged in as well as throughout our state and greater community.
It is because of our district's vision and my desire as a culturally responsive librarian that we are taking such a thoughtful and thorough look at our 300s sections in all our district libraries, including our library here at Grant Watts. It is important to all of us that our children are given the opportunity to engage in materials that are reflective and relevant to the community and greater world we live in.
